Chapter 226: Sin Of Greed

With that last thought I quickly make my way over to Albus as he lays on the floor. Letting out a few coughs as he struggles to breathe."No more laughing? I’m actually surprised," I say while looking down at him.

"I’ve done my job.... And I got to witness an amazing sight," King Albus replies weakly.

"What sight is that, huh?" I question.

"You truly are a monster to be afraid of... They don’t know it yet, but I believe that it all makes sense now. Lust is right to keep an eye on you," He explains before coughing more.

Before I can say anything else his body goes limp as his head turns to the right. It is obvious that he died right then and there... But I still need to do it.

STOMP!!!!!

I slam my foot down onto his head a few times to confirm that he won’t be getting up... Especially after that.

"Is it finally over?" Aria asks with a bit of stress in her voice.

"The fight with the King is over, but someone else is coming," I answer while trying to keep myself standing.

RUMBLE!!!! RUMBLE!!!!

Everything begins to shake around us as if an earthquake itself is happening... Until finally it stops out of nowhere.

Just barely I can notice that someone else is standing in the distance. A man with blonde hair that just barely reaches his shoulders, bangs that part left and right in front of his face, and he is wearing a rather nice dress suit.

His eyes are green with a little bit of a glow to them and he doesn’t match what I expected in the slightest.

"The dragon is still standing after all. I can’t believe you killed Albus before I arrived," The man speaks with a surprised tone.

"Who might you be?" I manage to ask.

"Most refer to me as the Sin of Greed or the Monarch Greed. Both are suitable to call me either way," He answers while fixing the cuffs on his wrists.

This is the worst possible scenario that we could be in. I definitely can’t fight against a monarch like this... Not in this state by any means.

Rokuro we need to find a way out of this situation... Now!!!

That might not be possible at this moment Rika. We need to see how it plays out, even if it doesn’t go our way.

"What happens now...?" I ask with a weak tone.

The damage is starting to and more as each second passes by.

"See, I was hoping you’d tell me. You seem to be eager to find all these answers," Greed responds as he crosses his arms.

"You aren’t going to answer anything," I say with certainty.

"I can’t really argue with you on that. But you truly are interesting," Greed replies while observing me.

The best thing I can do here is.... Buy time for the girls. If they can make it out of where and back to the others it’ll be enough for now. I don’t want them to die here.

There’s no guarantee that they can even make it away from here.

I turn my head slightly towards the girls.

"You guys should get out of here while you have the chance," I say with a serious tone.

"Rokuro we can’t just le—

I don’t let Aria finish that sentence.

"Just go!!! Please!!!!" I shout while clenching my fists.

I turn back to see Greed still just standing there staring back at me. He doesn’t seem to care about them leaving so maybe I can focus on him alone.

The girls definitely want to argue with my decision but I hear them all running off in the distance.

"I don’t blame you for sending them away. I’d do the same thing if I was in your shoes since you do care quite a bit about them," Greed says while walking around.

Rokuro we can’t take him.

I’d still rather stall him just in case... Even if it costs me my life.

"Why would a monarch be coming here?" I ask while trying to keep myself from falling over.

"Huh. Because Albus was important but you did kill him so that does create a bit of a problem," Greed responds with a relatively calm tone.

CRACK!!!!!

Without getting the chance to react I feel a fist crash against my chest as pain immediately jolts throughout my body.

"I thought you’d be fighting back at the very least," Greed says while moving his fist away from me.

Immediately I fall to my knees as blood spills out onto the floor; every bone in my body is screaming at me... Especially now.

Rokuro!!!!! Get up!!! Please just get up.

Just give me a moment here. I’m really doing my best here, but it isn’t easy by any means when I just got done with Albus.

I’m weaker than I anticipated and I definitely can’t fight someone of this level yet.

"You have to. Get the f*ck up. This is what you’ve been working towards!" The familiar voice shouts with anger in its voice.

The purple and black flames begin to form once again as I start to force myself to stand back up. Everything is returning from earlier as I start to realize that I need to do this.

I can’t let anything happen to them no matter what so this is what needs to be done. I’ll handle this Monarch of Greed somehow.

As I finally stand back up I can notice that my vision is slightly distorted and the wings are forming completely once again. The pain from the wounds are gone... Even if I’m not healed.

"I’ll give you a fight..." I manage to say.

SPLAT!!!

Pain jolts through my chest as blood hits the ground. It doesn’t take me long to notice that his arm is through it.

"I’d love to see this power more. Come on!" Greed shouts with disappointment in his voice.
