Chapter 1346 - 1345

Chapter 1346 - 1345

Hong Kong.A small village with a distinctive local flavor; today, a young man arrived here, carrying a camera, exploring while capturing the scenery.

At the village entrance, a group of children were frolicking, chasing a soccer ball. This scene caught the young man’s attention, and he picked up his camera, snapping away to capture the innocent, playful moment filled with childlike joy.

The young man reviewed the photos he had taken and felt very satisfied, believing his photography skills had improved.

This young man was named Chen Kai, a photography enthusiast. His identity was very ordinary, even somewhat unremarkable. He was just a simple worker, a low-level employee with no particular hobbies, except for photography. He liked to idle around with his camera, shooting as he pleased.

He had unintentionally heard that Hong Kong had such a village still preserving a rich, traditional atmosphere, so he came to visit out of admiration.

Suddenly, a luxury car sped past on the village road.

Initially, Chen Kai didn’t notice it much and just felt a bit puzzled, as the luxury car seemed somewhat out of place in this village. However, he didn’t think much of it and continued wandering around.

The villagers paid him no attention because the village was essentially a tourist spot, attracting thousands upon thousands of tourists each year. The villagers were long accustomed to strangers, imparting no significance to them.

Moreover, at this very moment, there were quite a few tourists around, and someone as ordinary-looking as Chen Kai wouldn’t draw any attention.

Chen Kai was glad to walk without disturbance, enjoying the tranquility.

Having passed through the village, he arrived at a nearby forest. In the highly urbanized city of Hong Kong, such a village nestled by mountains and waters was indeed rare.

Chen Kai’s enthusiasm for exploring grew, and without realizing it, he had left the village, entering the nearby woods.

Suddenly, Chen Kai saw an animal ahead, head down, grazing. It seemed to have noticed Chen Kai’s approach, and the little animal lifted its head to glance at him.

Chen Kai paused, unable to remember the animal’s name at the moment. But it was adorable and seemed familiar—as if he’d heard somewhere that it was a protected species with very few left. To encounter it here was truly marvelous.

Chen Kai wished to get closer and photograph the little animal.

Yet, before he could press the shutter, the animal, highly alert, instantly became cautious and turned tail, sprinting away.

Unwilling to let it go, Chen Kai had a hunch that successfully capturing an image of this little animal might lead to big news, like discovering an endangered species in Hong Kong. As the photographer, he might shoot to fame.

Chen Kai aspired to greatness, feeling a lifetime as a low-level employee was unsatisfactory. A mundane life was meaningless to him, and being a common person, he simply wanted to gain fame and wealth.

He felt that his sole avenue to fame was through photography. If he could capture breathtaking photos, he could become famous, as he wasn’t skilled in anything else. Not being very outgoing or business-savvy, how else could he earn big money? Discovering his interest was the key.

If he captured the little animal on film, there was a potential for fame—an opportunity fleeting yet profound, perhaps once in a lifetime.

Chen Kai was determined not to miss this.

Thus, without hesitation, he dashed off to pursue the little animal, determined to snap its image at any cost.

However, the animal ran too fast for Chen Kai to catch up, and after a brief chase, it had vanished without a trace, leaving Chen Kai searching in vain.

Walking around, Chen Kai couldn’t find the animal and felt a bit disheartened.

His troubles worsened as he discovered that he was lost after running all the way, unable to find his way back.

Chen Kai was nearly in tears, his mood plummeting. He aimlessly wandered the mountains, hoping to find the path back, but without success even after considerable effort.

As dusk approached with no solution, Chen Kai, facing no other option, saw a mountain nearby and decided to climb it, seeking a vantage point to find his way back. Spotting any buildings, he could ask their owners for directions to find his way.

Decision made.

So Chen Kai headed toward the mountain.

After a while, he arrived at the foot of the mountain and suddenly noticed a luxury car parked there—one that seemed oddly familiar.

Chen Kai quickly reviewed his past photos and found the car he had captured in the village, which was the same one now in front of him!

The luxury car looked like it wasn’t cheap—why would its owner come to such a remote mountain area?

Chen Kai was curious, yet not overly concerned; it wasn’t his business why others came here, nor did he intend to meddle. On the contrary, he felt relieved, glad to finally encounter people who could offer directions, possibly even giving him a ride out of compassion.

After all, he had been walking quite a distance and was very exhausted, his legs cramping and nearly unable to continue.

If the car’s owner offered him a lift, he’d be extremely grateful.

At this point, however, the luxury car sat alone, its owner nowhere in sight. It wasn’t a sports car but an SUV resembling Lin Fan’s Rolls-Royce, a type that seated many people. Chen Kai initially thought of waiting for the owner to return, planning to approach and chat.

So Chen Kai waited for a while, but the car’s owner didn’t return. Instead, he heard noises coming from the mountain direction.

Unable to continue waiting, Chen Kai decided to investigate and approached the direction from which the noises seemed to originate.

He entered a small forest, the sound ahead increasingly distinct. Chen Kai quickened his pace to get closer, yet the nearer he came, the more he sensed something amiss. Foul language and unpleasant sounds seemed to accompany someone’s distress.

Encountering someone in distress was not promising; Chen Kai hesitated about whether to proceed, fearing the angry car owner might vent on him if asked for directions, let alone granting him a lift.

Best to assess the situation first.

Chen Kai resolved to tread lightly, slowly moving toward the sound source, and upon arrival, glanced around.

The sight before him instantly frightened Chen Kai, leaving him in shock.
