Chapter 878: Shredding Wind Wave
Chapter 878: Shredding Wind Wave
Neither Asher nor Teo Swig rushed toward each other. They simply stood in silence, staring at one another. Asher didn’t plan on being as ruthless toward Teo Swig as he had been with Isaac. Although they weren’t exactly buddies, it didn’t mean they weren’t, at the very least, colleagues against whom he could hold back against. But, of course, if Teo Swig made statements about Asher going all out against him, Asher would simply one-shot the guy, as that was what going all out actually looked like.
Teo Swig stood in silence for a moment. He could feel countless eyes bearing down on him, but he didn’t feel any pressure. Earlier, he had advised Lawrence Shade not to bother engaging Asher in close combat, but could he take his own advice? Definitely not.
Why? Because whether it was long-range attacks or close-combat techniques, he knew it made no difference to the boy standing before him.
Teo Swig sighed. He would never ask Asher to go easy on him, nor would he open his mouth and ask Asher to fight at full strength against him. He would simply fight until the very moment he lost. That was all.
With that conclusion, Teo Swig lowered himself into a stance, his glaive raised and pointed forward. Astra Energy surged through his body as he enhanced himself with both the Wind and Flame elements.
Asher smiled at the resolve within Teo Swig’s eyes. He drew Virelass and simply waited for Teo to make the first move.
The earth beneath Teo Swig’s feet shattered, blasting backward as he shot forward like a bullet, going all out from the very first step. In less than a single second, he had already closed the distance between himself and Asher, his glaive screaming toward Asher’s neck with breakneck speed.
Asher simply raised his rapier, his hand becoming a blur as he effortlessly intercepted the glaive. The moment the two weapons thundered into one another, a violent wave of flames and wind burst outward, completely engulfing Asher as though it intended to tear him apart while burning him alive.
But unfortunately, with Asher’s acquisition of the Stellar Flame, his resistance, and even immunity, to flame-based attacks had skyrocketed, just as it had against lightning-based attacks. As for the wind attacks, Asher’s body was simply too absurd to be injured by anyone below the Wavestar Life Rank or a Rank 7 entity. Of course, a Rank 6 weapon could still injure him... but that was only if it managed to touch him in the first place.
Manipulating the wind around him, Teo Swig moved again, his speed increasing as flames erupted beneath his feet. He wasn’t delusional enough to believe that the previous attack had accomplished anything against Asher, so he attacked once more without hesitation.
This time, the blade of his glaive tore toward Asher through the smoke and debris. Without taking a single step, Asher raised Virelass and casually deflected the attack to the side. Teo Swig’s glaive smashed into the ground with a thunderous explosion, sending stones and clouds of dust soaring upward.
Before Teo Swig could even recover, Asher moved first. Twisting on one foot, he unleashed a devastating Brazilian backheel kick toward Teo Swig’s head with his other foot while the latter was still recovering his weapon. Hearing the attack rip through the wind barrier as though it were nothing more than paper, Teo Swig immediately raised his right forearm.
Sound exploded outward upon impact. The earthen guard he had hastily created at the last moment shattered instantly as the force of the kick slammed into him, launching him backward like a kite caught within a violent storm. With a deafening boom, his body tore through several smaller airplanes before finally grinding to a halt.
Before Asher could even blink, the earth beneath his feet erupted upward with tearing force, catching him by surprise. His eyes snapped toward the attack, his centre of gravity shifting as he prepared to evade, but before he could move, the ground beneath him locked him firmly in place.
Asher’s hand blurred only once. Instantly, the approaching earth spikes were reduced to countless fragments, while the earthen restraints around his feet shattered beneath the very same strike.
Asher’s eyes snapped forward to see that Teo Swig had already hurled a cargo plane toward him. Asher didn’t react. The moment the massive aircraft came within range, it abruptly froze in midair as space itself imprisoned it beneath his control. With nothing more than a thought, he hurled the plane back toward Teo Swig, who had already regained his footing.
Teo Swig effortlessly dodged the incoming aircraft. The instant he came to a stop, he transitioned seamlessly into his movement technique. The wind coiled around his feet as he appeared behind Asher in a blur. The very moment he arrived, he flowed directly into his glaive technique.
[The Swig’s Technique: Shredding Wind Wave]
His glaive blurred repeatedly as he unleashed a relentless barrage of crescent-shaped wind waves, numbering well into the hundreds. His Astra Energy amplified every slash to an astonishing degree.
Seeing the incoming attack, Asher simply raised Virelass once more. Without even turning toward Teo Swig’s position, he casually slashed sideways. The instant he did, numerous silver sword line streaks manifested around him, weaving and cascading around one another as they effortlessly tore through Teo Swig’s attacks as though they had been launched by a child challenging an adult.
The resulting collision caused the buildings behind both Teo Swig and Asher to explode apart as glass, concrete slabs, twisted steel, and metallic shrapnel were violently hurled through the air. The devastating shockwave struck Teo Swig at point-blank range, sending his body crashing through the collapsing building before smashing through several more structures beyond it.
Teo Swig immediately climbed back to his feet, not daring to remain on the ground for even a second. Around him, destruction spanning nearly seven hundred metres had been carved into the airport. His body bled freely as more than twenty sword wounds could be seen across his frame. Asher had simultaneously attacked and defended with a single effortless motion.
Without wasting another moment, Teo Swig tapped into his Water affinity. Moisture flooded the atmosphere before rapidly condensing into an immense body of water, transforming the entire airport into a towering oceanic tide. A colossal tsunami surged toward Asher, seeking to crush him beneath its unimaginable weight.
Asher merely shook his head. Raising Virelass once again, he executed a simple horizontal slash, one empowered by neither Astra Energy nor any elemental affinity. Instantly, the enormous tsunami was cleaved cleanly in half. It remained suspended for a brief moment before collapsing as though it had lost all momentum, the countless tonnes of water rushing forward like a devastating flood.
Brilliant white flames bloomed across Asher’s left hand. He casually waved through the air, and the surrounding temperature skyrocketed to an absurd degree. In an instant, the entire flood evaporated into vast clouds of steam with effortless ease.
The entire airport became obscured beneath the dense mist, rendering ordinary vision completely useless. But that wasn’t the case for warriors like Teo Swig, who could perceive movement through subtle air displacement and even vibrations travelling through the earth. Nor was it an issue for Asher, whose already absurd senses, combined with Omni Perception, elevated his awareness to an entirely different level.
Through the swirling mist, Teo Swig emerged like an assassin. He had manipulated the wind to erase every trace of sound his movements produced. Without the slightest hesitation, he thrust his glaive from the side, the razor-sharp blade streaking directly toward Asher’s temple.
