Chapter 21 War Priest Mage, Master 3
Chapter 21 War Priest Mage, Master 3
Zhou Qing discovered that the entrance to the second level of the underground city was exactly the same as that of the first level, both being stone brick staircases.
The signs of human intervention are very obvious.
I don't know if it was like this from the beginning, or if it was modified by the Adventurers' Guild later.
Staring at the neatly arranged stone bricks, Zhou Qing couldn't help but sigh.
To truly understand this fantastical world, we must master the language; we can't always rely on asking around.
Then, Zhou Qing stepped into the stairwell corridor at the entrance.
Before I had even finished walking down the stairs, a noisy commotion drifted over.
Once he had completely descended the stairs, he saw two guards dressed as knights standing motionless on either side of the entrance, like door gods.
Not far away were several stone buildings that looked almost exactly like the Adventurers' Guild headquarters at the first-floor entrance, clearly a chain branch.
A few adventurers were scattered around the entrance of the stronghold, discussing something. The commotion from earlier must have come from there.
Just then, a group of adventurers emerged from the stronghold.
Zhou Qing glanced at it.
A red-haired, curly-haired youth carrying a giant axe.
A purple-haired, large-breasted mage holding a staff.
A thief loli completely hidden inside a hood.
There was also a middle-aged pastor with a cigarette in his mouth and a scruffy beard.
"Wow, a standard four-person squad setup!"
"Warrior, Mage, Priest, Rogue."
Zhou Qing had already found out the details from the Adventurers' Association.
Just like novels and games.
Warriors, mages, and priests are the classic three classes, while thieves are an essential class for exploring dungeons.
After all, this place is full of locked rooms and hidden mechanisms. Without a thief who knows how to pick locks and explore traps, he will eventually fall into a trap.
If the team has a large number of people, there will be more specialized classes such as Guardian and Ranger, or even niche classes such as Druid and Alchemist.
Zhou Qing saw the red-haired youth being berated by the purple-haired mage, his head hanging low, suffering the humiliation.
Perhaps sensing Zhou Qing's gaze, the red-haired youth suddenly looked up and nodded at him as a greeting.
The priest next to him blew a smoke ring, grinned at him, and shouted, "Young man, the second floor is not as good as the first. Be careful you don't lose your life here!"
Upon hearing this, the purple-haired mage quickly stepped forward, bowed deeply, and apologized: "I'm so sorry! My teammate has caused you trouble!"
After saying that, she turned around and kicked the red-haired youth in the shin.
The red-haired youth complained, looking aggrieved, "I was just saying hello, why did you kick me?"
The group left the second floor amidst much bickering.
Zhou Qing withdrew his gaze.
His martial arts instincts detected the dangerous aura emanating from these four people.
Especially that red-haired warrior; even without lifting a finger, he gave him a deadly feeling of having a knife to his throat.
"This group is definitely strong, but it's a pity they're not wearing adventurer badges, so we can't tell their exact strength."
Zhou Qing didn't plan to go to the Adventurers' Guild base, and headed straight for the depths of the second level.
Like the first level, the second level is also mainly forest, but it is obviously much wilder.
The trees were thick and dense, their branches intertwined like a maze, and the ground was covered with a thick layer of decaying leaves that crunched underfoot.
Zhou Qing hadn't gone far in the forest when he suddenly stiffened, inexplicably feeling like he was being watched.
While it wasn't exactly dangerous, there was definitely something watching me.
"Um?"
Zhou Qing reacted very quickly, instinctively dodging to the side.
The next second, a pale blue wind blade struck the spot where he had just been standing, splashing up a small patch of dirt and creating a shallow crater.
"Oh, a magic attack?"
Zhou Qing raised an eyebrow and looked towards the source. He saw a snow-white baboon sitting on a tree trunk not far away, tilting its head and looking at him.
He could clearly sense that a faint magical power was gathering in the baboon's mouth.
"Wow, the monsters on the second floor are different; they can all use magic now?"
At that moment, the white baboon spit out another wind blade.
With a flick of his wrist, Zhou Qing unleashed the enchanted wooden staff, sending it hurtling through the air and shattering the wind blades.
"That's all the power? It's like tickling an itch!"
He chuckled, pushed off with his feet, and pounced towards the baboon.
This baboon was quite fast, its limbs darting between the tree trunks, clearly enhanced by magic.
But Zhou Qing was no pushover either. He wasn't just a big, dumb guy with high tankiness. With the added speed boost from his enchanted boots, he quickly caught up.
"Trying to run? No way!"
Seeing that it was about to be caught up, the baboon panicked and turned around, unleashing another gust of wind blade.
Zhou Qing was too lazy to dodge, so he swung his stick and shattered the wind blade. Then, while the baboon was stunned, he accurately struck it with his stick.
The baboon fell straight down from the tree, twitched twice on the ground, and then fell still.
"Done."
Zhou Qing stepped forward, poked the baboon carcass with a stick to confirm it was dead, then picked it up and examined it.
"The fur is quite clean; we'll see what it tastes like later."
Zhou Qing weighed the baboon carcass in his hand for a moment, then casually tossed it into the dark space.
He stretched and thought to himself, "The second level is much more interesting than the first. The monsters can even use magic. This is what monsters should be like."
"Although it's still a fragile shell that breaks with a single blow, at least it's somewhat challenging."
Zhou Qing didn't linger and continued exploring deeper.
Not long after he left, he suddenly felt a tightness all over his body, and the feeling of being watched returned.
Zhou Qing reacted extremely quickly, slightly turning his head to dodge, and a dark shadow flew past his ear, accompanied by a sharp whistling sound.
"This is?"
Zhou Qing turned around and his pupils contracted slightly.
A rabbit with sharp horns suddenly pierced through the middle of a thick tree.
The tree snapped and fell to the ground with a crash.
"If an ordinary adventurer were hit by this, his head would probably explode, and his brains would be splattered all over the place."
"And that baboon from before, are the second floor full of these newbie killers?"
Before Zhou Qing could think further, the horned rabbit kicked off with its hind legs and shot towards him again.
Zhou Qing dared not be careless, concentrating his attention and fixing his eyes on the trajectory of the flying horned rabbit.
Just as the horned rabbit was about to get close, he suddenly swung his club.
With a muffled thud, the horned rabbit was smashed to pieces, its flesh torn open, and it fell to the ground lifeless.
"What a fragile monster! Isn't it challenging at all?"
Zhou Qing pursed his lips and was about to put away the horned rabbit's corpse when, just as he took a step forward, he caught a glimpse of a dark shadow approaching out of the corner of his eye.
He quickly turned his head to dodge, but another horned rabbit flew past.
When he looked closely, good heavens, there were more than a dozen horned rabbits crouching in the grass in front of him, their scarlet eyes staring at him as if they wanted to kill him.
"Well, we've stirred up trouble."
Zhou Qing sighed softly, no longer daring to be careless. He immediately became serious, gripping the enchanted wooden stick tightly with both hands, ready to become a slime at any moment.
Although his physical strength was not low and he was wearing an excellent-grade helmet, the impact of this horned rabbit was undeniable. If he were to be hit by it, he would truly be finished.
"Come on, you bunch of little rascals!"
Zhou Qing gave a low shout and charged forward.
