Chapter 30 The Yin-Yang Well of Ice and Fire
Chapter 30 The Yin-Yang Well of Ice and Fire
"Grandpa, we're not in a hurry," Tang Yu suddenly interrupted.
"I've discovered a mysterious cave entrance." After saying that, Tang Yu pointed in a direction.
Upon hearing Tang Yu's words, both Tang Kun and Dugu Bo, who had just broken through, looked in the direction Tang Yu was pointing.
Hidden in the dense forest, on an inconspicuous rock face, a dark cave entrance could indeed be vaguely seen. The entrance was small and covered with vines and moss, making it difficult to spot without careful observation.
"The cave entrance?" Tang Kun asked, puzzled. "Xiao Yu, you mean...?"
"Grandpa, I noticed this hole earlier," Tang Yu said earnestly.
"Soul beasts of Medusa's caliber have an extremely strong sense of territory and usually don't leave their lairs easily, but here..."
He looked around at the damaged environment: "Although the battle just now was intense, it mainly took place in the center of the open area."
Look at the vegetation near the cave entrance; it's almost completely unaffected. What does that mean?
Tang Kun and Dugu Bo were both experienced people, and they immediately understood after Tang Yu mentioned it.
"This means Medusa consciously avoided the cave entrance during the battle!" A glint of light flashed in Dugu Bo's eyes. "She was protecting something!"
"Indeed." Tang Yu nodded. "For an 80,000-year-old Medusa to care so much, even to the point of being distracted during battle to protect her, this cave is probably not simple."
Tang Kun seemed to understand something: "You mean, this might be Medusa's lair? Perhaps it contains her collection or... offspring?"
Soul beast lairs sometimes contain rare and precious materials collected by the soul beasts. If it is the lair of a top-tier soul beast like Medusa, its value is immeasurable.
If it is a descendant of Medusa—a young Medusa—then it would be even more valuable.
Taming a top-tier soul beast with unlimited potential is an irresistible temptation for any power.
"We'll find out the details once we go inside." Tang Yu's eyes gleamed with golden light as he said this.
"Um."
Tang Kun and Dugu Bo exchanged a glance and nodded to each other.
Finally, the three reached a consensus: Tang Kun would lead the way, Tang Yu would be in the middle, and Dugu Bo would follow at the back. The three of them carefully approached the cave entrance.
The closer you get to the cave entrance, the more pronounced the strange smell in the air becomes, a mixture of fishy sweetness and peculiar fragrance.
"Be careful, there may be residual toxins in the cave," Dugu Bo warned, while releasing a faint dark green halo that enveloped the three of them. Tang Kun also dared not be negligent, and the Haotian Hammer appeared in his hand.
The opening was much wider than it appeared from the outside, enough for two people to walk side by side.
The cave walls were smooth, with obvious signs of long-term friction from snakes, and some grayish-white fragments of snake skin were scattered on the ground—clearly left by Medusa after shedding her skin.
The tunnel winds upwards, but fortunately the slope is gentle.
The three proceeded cautiously, taking each step with utmost care.
After walking for about fifteen minutes, the three of them emerged from the cave.
What came into view was a dense forest, and they were currently on the top of a mountain about 500 meters high in the forest.
Upon arriving here, everyone was taken aback by the terrain before them.
Before them lay an inverted cone-shaped valley. The mountaintop where they stood was at the edge of this valley. Thick, humid heat rose from within the valley, carrying a distinctive sulfurous smell.
Feeling the heat rising from the mountain valley, Tang Kun couldn't help but exclaim in surprise:
"Could there be a hot spring down there?"
Taking in his surroundings, Tang Yu smiled knowingly, "Looks like I've found the right place."
"Grandpa, Senior Dugu, shall we go down and take a look?" Tang Yu looked at Tang Kun and Dugu Bo.
"Um."
Tang Kun and Dugu Bo exchanged a glance and nodded to each other.
Tang Kun then planned to pick up Tang Yu and take him downstairs.
However, Tang Yu refused.
Tang Yu's body trembled slightly, and a pair of enormous wings appeared.
"Could this be an external soul bone?!" Dugu Bo exclaimed in surprise, looking at the wings on Tang Yu's back.
"That's right," Tang Kun replied.
"I came to Sunset Forest this time to help my grandson obtain his first spirit ring. Perhaps I was lucky, because the spirit beast I hunted just happened to drop an external spirit bone."
"Please keep this a secret, Brother Dugu."
As he finished speaking, Tang Kun couldn't help but glare at Tang Yu. This kid had just said not to reveal his external soul bone, and then he forgot about it.
"Of course I know that," Dugu Bo nodded in acknowledgment.
"If I may ask, how old is Brother Tang's grandson this year?" Dugu Bo inquired.
She just turned six this year.
"Six years old, a year younger than Yan'er, it's a bit of a pity," Dugu Bo sighed inwardly.
He quickly realized what he had just imagined.
"She just turned six this year!"
"The first spirit ring!"
An idea instantly popped into Dugu Bo's mind.
"Could Brother Tang's grandson be born with full soul power?" Dugu Bo asked tentatively.
"That's right," Tang Kun admitted with some pride.
"The Haotian Sect truly produces a wealth of talented individuals!" Dugu Bo couldn't help but exclaim.
"Grandpa, Senior Dugu, are you leaving or not?" Tang Yu asked impatiently, as the subject of the discussion.
"If you won't leave, I'll leave by myself."
After saying that, Tang Yu ignored the two of them and flew directly towards the bottom of the cliff.
Tang Kun and Dugu Bo had no choice but to stop talking and jump off the mountainside.
For Tang Yu, it would only take a few moments to reach the bottom of the mountain, but for safety reasons, he did not do so, and instead slowly followed Tang Kun and Dugu Bo.
Looking at Tang Yu flying around him, Dugu Bo couldn't help but feel envious. Who wouldn't want a pair of wings to fly?
After the envy came doubt: Tang Yu really had just turned six years old this year.
Judging from his size, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say he's eight years old.
Before long, the three arrived at the valley at the bottom of the cliff.
"This is..." Tang Kun paused, his face showing surprise and doubt.
Dugu Bo also sensed this anomaly, his brows furrowing: "An aura of both ice and fire..."
At this moment, all three of them focused their attention on the strange spring in the center of the valley.
The spring is about fifty meters in diameter and has two distinct colors. One half is a fiery red, like molten lava rolling and steaming.
The other half is an extremely cold, milky white, like ancient ice, exuding a chilling aura.
The two colors of spring water converge at the center, forming a huge, slowly rotating Tai Chi pattern, but instead of merging, they maintain absolute balance.
The alternating flashes of red and white light illuminated the entire cave, casting a hazy glow on the surrounding rock walls.
Around the spring, countless exotic flowers and rare herbs grow!
Some are entirely crimson, with leaves that resemble burning flames;
Some were crystal clear, exuding a chilling aura;
Some are colorful and shimmering;
Some were as black as ink, yet faintly twinkled with starlight...
Each plant exudes a powerful energy fluctuation, clearly indicating that they are extremely rare and precious natural treasures!
"The Yin-Yang Well of Ice and Fire..." Tang Yu murmured to himself, his voice filled with barely suppressed excitement.
This is the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Eye, one of the three great treasure basins of Douluo Continent. It is a magical place formed by the blood of the Ice Dragon King and the Fire Dragon King after their bodies fell to the ground and their blood stained the earth!
"The Yin-Yang Well of Ice and Fire?" Tang Kun and Dugu Bo looked at Tang Yu at the same time.
They had never heard of this name before, but the sight before them spoke volumes about the extraordinary nature of this place.
"Grandpa, Senior Dugu, we've really stumbled upon a great opportunity this time." Tang Yu took a deep breath, trying to calm his excited emotions.
"I learned about the description of the Yin-Yang Well of Ice and Fire from an ancient book. I never imagined that such a place really existed in this world."
"Legend has it that the plants living in the Yin-Yang Well of Ice and Fire are all legendary rare plants. Given enough time, they can all grow into legendary immortal herbs, possessing the power to rival the creation of heaven and earth."
