Chapter 070 Counterattack
Chapter 070 Counterattack
The day after the press conference, CEFC's response arrived as expected.
Zuo Cheng had just arrived at the company in the morning when Han Lu rushed into his office with a document in her hand. Her face was grim, clearly she had seen some bad news.
"CEFC has issued a statement." She slammed the document on the table, "saying that our press conference was just hype, and that the integrated space-ground system has no practical value whatsoever. They also said that our so-called core technologies are nothing more than stolen research results from them."
Zuo Cheng took the document and quickly glanced through it. Huaxin's statement was strongly worded, directly accusing 402 Technology of "misleading the industry" and "false advertising," and even hinting at taking legal action.
"They're desperate," Chen Hao said, entering the room. "Our technology is real; they can't offer anything substantial, so they resort to mudslinging."
"The problem is, some people in the industry will believe it," Han Lu said. "After all, CEFC is the industry leader, and their voice carries a lot of weight."
Zuo Cheng put down the document and pondered for a moment.
"Don't panic," he said. "The more agitated CEFC is, the more insecure they seem. Right now, they can only rely on talk, while we rely on solid technology."
Should we respond?
"Respond, but with reason and evidence," Zuo Cheng said. "Han Lu, prepare a clarification statement, listing our patent certificates and acceptance reports. Don't attack Huaxin; let the facts speak for themselves."
"clear."
After Han Lu left, Zuo Cheng turned on his computer and began checking his emails. His gaze lingered on the system panel, which displayed the current status.
Points: 123. Two branches, fourteen leaves.
Zuo Cheng was calculating in his mind. The bidding for the third phase of Sky Dome was imminent, and these points might come in handy. But he also knew that the points were precious and should be used wisely.
At 10 a.m., Zuo Cheng convened a meeting with the technical team. The meeting room was full of people, including Chen Hao, Zhang Lei, and Ma Hao, and Liu Wei had also made a special trip back from the client's office to attend.
Ma Hao sat in the corner, not saying much, but listening very attentively. He had worked in the chip industry in Shenzhen for two years and had a solid technical foundation, but it would take time for him to integrate into the new team.
"Today's topic is the technical solution for the third phase," Zuo Cheng said. "CEFC's counterattack shows they value this bid highly, and we must come up with a better solution."
He turned on the projector, and a technical architecture diagram appeared on the screen.
"This is our current solution. The overall architecture is fine, but the adaptive encoding and modulation part still needs optimization."
Ma Hao raised his hand: "President Zuo, I have an idea."
"explain."
"The core of adaptive coding and modulation is to dynamically adjust parameters based on channel conditions." Ma Hao stood up and walked to the screen. "When I was in Shenzhen, I encountered similar algorithms. If we introduce machine learning and let the system learn the optimal parameters itself, the efficiency can be improved by at least 20%."
The meeting room was silent for a few seconds.
Zuo Cheng's eyes lit up. He had thought of this idea before, but lacked a concrete implementation path. Ma Hao's experience in Shenzhen filled this gap perfectly.
"Please elaborate."
Ma Hao picked up a pen and started drawing on the whiteboard.
"Traditional adaptive coding and modulation adjusts parameters based on a fixed rule table. A high modulation order is used when the channel is good, and a low order is used when the channel is poor. However, real-world channel environments are very complex, and fixed rules are often not optimal."
He drew a diagram on the whiteboard.
"If we use neural networks to learn the mapping between channel characteristics and optimal parameters, the system can continuously optimize based on historical data. Initially, the results may be mediocre, but after running for a period of time, the performance will improve significantly."
Chen Hao frowned: "This requires a lot of training data. Where are we going to get that data?"
"The data from the second phase of the Sky Dome system," Ma Hao said. "Over the past few months, we've accumulated a large amount of channel measurement data. This data is perfect for training the model."
Zuo Cheng nodded. Ma Hao's idea was valuable, and it made good use of existing resources.
"This direction is feasible," he said. "Ma Hao, you will lead a feasibility analysis and report back to me in three days."
"OK."
When Ma Hao sat down, Zhang Lei quietly gave him a thumbs up.
After the meeting, Zuo Cheng returned to his office. He closed the door, opened the system panel, and began to think.
The radar's cooldown period is long over; a new scan is possible. But the company is full of familiar faces—what new things could it possibly detect?
Zuo Cheng decided to give it a try. He concentrated and activated the technology radar.
[Technology Radar activated, consuming 5 points]
Current points: 118
An invisible ripple spread out from him, covering the entire office area. A few seconds later, the scan results appeared on the system panel.
[Scan complete]
[Discovering Learnable Technologies: Adaptive Tuning Optimization Algorithms]
[Source: Ma Hao]
[Copying cost: 12 points]
[Technology Radar Enters 48-Hour Cooling Phase]
Zuo Cheng was taken aback. He hadn't expected Ma Hao to have such good ideas. It seemed this guy had indeed learned a lot in Shenzhen.
12 points, should I learn it or not?
Zuo Cheng hesitated for a few seconds. 118 points minus 12 left him with 106 points. The bidding for the third phase of Sky Dome was imminent, and there might be other places where points would be needed even more later.
But then he thought again, Ma Hao is already a member of 402, and his skills are 402's skills. Since Ma Hao is willing to share, why should he spend points to learn?
Zuo Cheng closed the scan results, deciding to save the points.
He opened the leaf status interface, browsed through it, and confirmed that all the leaves were in a normal active state.
Each leaf on the branch of communication engineering represents a mature technology, forming the core competitiveness of 402.
Zuo Cheng took a deep breath and turned off the system panel.
In the afternoon, Han Lu issued a clarification statement. The statement did not attack Huaxin, but calmly listed the 402 patent certificate number, the acceptance report of the Sky Dome project, and the cooperation certificate of Blue Bay Communications.
Facts speak louder than words. Huaxin's slander has fallen apart on its own.
The industry reacted quickly. Multiple media outlets reposted the 402 statement, and the majority of comments supported the 402 error. Huaxin's statement, however, made it appear as if it were in a fit of rage and had lost its composure.
Zuo Cheng glanced at the online comments, but his heart remained largely unmoved. He knew that the verbal sparring was merely a facade; the true outcome would be decided at the moment of bidding.
In the evening, Zuo Cheng received a call from Zhou Henian.
"Xiao Zuo, I heard about the press conference." Zhou Henian's voice was calm. "You did very well, neither arrogant nor humble, and your arguments were reasonable and well-founded."
"Thank you for your affirmation, Mr. Zhou."
"I'll put in a good word with CEFC," Zhou Henian said. "The Sky Dome project is a key national project; they won't be allowed to pull any dirty tricks. You focus on preparing the bid; I'll handle everything else."
"Understood, we will definitely do our best."
After hanging up the phone, Zuo Cheng breathed a sigh of relief. With Zhou Henian's support, Huaxin should be more restrained.
He looked out the window; the Hangzhou skyline shimmered golden in the setting sun. The third phase of the bidding process would be the biggest challenge since the establishment of 402. But he was confident and prepared.
We must win this battle.
