Chapter 480: The Relentless Chase
Chapter 480: The Relentless Chase
"MASTER! MASTER!! MASTER!!!" Carla called out to Chiron again and again, but he did not respond. In anger, she raised her hand and her voice, "CHIRON!" However, just before she would smack him, he caught her arm.
Chiron took a look at her. He frowned a little. he did not want to believe that she was about to do what he thought she was about to do.
However, the most important point right now was not that but her state of being.
Carla had one hand dangling like a Pinata at her side and on the other side, she had her abdomen looking like it was decaying. Her face was also injured. She had one eye similarly dangling from its sockets.
Over all, she was badly wounded.
Chiron was a fast thinker. He instantly understood what was happening. She had been injured badly in a fight.
In truth, just as Chiron and Emma had been entering the Temple, Knight Sheyi went to take care of Chiron’s pets.
However, Carla had chosen to run and escape than fight. With the assistance from Hunter, she managed to dodge in time, faking her death and hiding within the Shadow Pool.@@@@
Just as Chiron opened his eyes, realizing what was happening, a huge amount of Blood splattered in all directions.
Hunter Whimpered as he was injured badly. However, he did not stop rushing through the darkness of the Shadow Pool.
Chiron looked and immediately, he saw the problem. It was Knight Sheyi’s Doll. She had managed to make it into the Shadow pool and had taken a huge chunk of Flesh from Hunter’s rear.
It was so bad that Hunter’s leg was badly damaged, but the beast did not stop pushing forward.
Chiron immediately waved his hand, sending a blast of his Aura energy at the Doll.
*Boom!* Chiron missed the mark.
The doll’s eyes looking at Chiron and his servants were lifeless, void of any emotion or humanity.
Hunter, despite his grievous wounds, struggled to keep moving. The beast’s breathing was labored, each step a proof of its strength and loyalty. Blood continued to drip from his wound, staining the ground beneath him. Chiron knew that they had to keep going, the urgency of their escape driving them forward even as their pursuers closed in.
Just then, a loud GROWL pierced the night air, and fireballs rained down from the sky at the figures pursuing Chiron. The fireballs, blazing with intense heat, exploded upon impact, creating a barrier of flames and smoke that temporarily slowed their pursuers. Though it didn’t kill them, it bought precious moments.
Chiron looked to the sky and saw his Red-Blood Fire Dragon, its scales shimmering like molten lava under the moonlight. The dragon swooped down with a powerful beat of its wings, the gusts of wind scattering the debris and embers from the fireball impacts.
With a mighty leap, Hunter, despite his grievous wounds, managed to mount the dragon’s back. The beast’s muscles strained with the effort, but his loyalty to Chiron drove him forward.
The dragon roared and ascended rapidly, lifting Chiron, Carla, and Hunter away from immediate danger. As they climbed higher and higher into the sky, Chiron glanced back at the ground below, where Knight Sheyi, Abel, and Prince Victor struggled through the smoke and flames. The fireballs had indeed slowed them, but Chiron knew it was only a temporary respite.
Their problems were far from over. Chiron noticed that, like his other servants, the dragon was bleeding badly. A deep, gaping wound marred its side, dark blood streaming from the injury and leaving a trail in the sky. The sight of the dragon’s injury filled Chiron with a mix of anger and urgency.
The dragon’s speed was greatly affected, its flight unsteady as it struggled to maintain altitude.
The cold night air stung their faces, carrying the metallic scent of blood. The dragon’s labored breathing and the sound of its wings cutting through the air were the only noises in the tense silence. Chiron looked at Carla, her face pale and her one good eye filled with acceptance despite her own injuries.
"We need to get somewhere safe, head for the Cardinal Forbidden Zone," Chiron said, his voice barely audible over the wind. Carla nodded, her grip tightening on Hunter to keep him secure.
The dragon flew as fast as it could, but its movements were sluggish, the wound taking its toll.
Meanwhile, on land, Knight Sheyi stopped. He was a bronze rank cultivator and did have the endurance to keep going but even he had to admit that a chase against Chiron’s dragon that could fly was a fruitless one.
After all, Dragon’s were the lords of the sky.
Abel and Dona caught up with Knight Sheyi. "is that it? Are we just going to let him go?" Prince Victor asked.
However, Knight Sheyi gave a side smile, "Don’t worry, I already prepared a gift for him, just in case. Get me a Core beast that can fly. We might be able to get there in time to watch the show..."
