The stream of water cut through the rest of the water and hit the pieces of the corrupted sea creatures that were trying to reform.
It didn't seem like it did anything at first after drenching the corrupted sea creatures, but then there was writhing that came from the tendrils reaching out.
They suddenly stopped pulling towards each other and let go, separating the different pieces from each other. At the same time, it almost seemed like they were writhing in pain from the way that they moved.
Looking carefully, one would be able to see that the black tendrils also seemed to be getting smaller. It was as if there was something that was making it decrease in size, almost as if it was making it disappear.
The sacred water.
That was what was making the tendrils decrease in size and disappear.
The sacred water had the ability to purify the corruption and since the tendrils were made from the corruption energy, they were able to purify these tendrils as well.
Though it seemed that the corruption energy in the tendrils were quite concentrated, so they weren't easy to purify.
It only slightly decrease in size, rather than completely being purified by the sacred water. But that was enough to stop the corrupted sea creatures from reviving.
Or at least it was until the Merman King stopped spraying the stream of water at the pieces of the corrupted sea creatures.
Once the water stopped, it seemed that they were able to recover and slowly pull themselves together once more. It seemed that with the sacred water, it was something that had to be shot continuously to have an effect.
If it wasn't continuously released, then the water around it would take its place and push it away.
That meant that unless the Merman King continuously used the relic, we wouldn't be able to take down the corrupted sea creatures permanently.
It even seemed like the tendrils were slowly regaining power as they seemed to regain a bit of their mass.
At this rate, it seemed like what the Merman King had done would be useless.
But if that power to regenerate was sealed, then they were easy to deal with.
The royal guards spread out and started cutting the various corrupted sea creatures to pieces. After cutting them to pieces, they swatted them over to me with their tridents.
From time to time, the Merman King would shoot out a stream of water to weaken the ones that seemed more aggressive than the others. The stream of sacred water was powerful enough to weaken them for the royal guards to easily cut them to pieces.
Just like this, we were able to take down all of the corrupted sea creatures that had gathered.
But even after taking them down...
"Just why did they all gather here?"
That was the question that was on everyone's mind as we looked at the frozen pieces of the corrupted creatures all around us.
In the end, none of them went for the corruption energy that was frozen in the middle.
It seemed that they were all focused on us once they reacted, as if they wanted to take us down to protect the corrupted energy.
None of this seemed to make any sense.
After all, if they wanted to protect the corrupted energy, why did they remain idle in the beginning. That was the perfect chance to ambush us and catch us off guard while we were focused on dealing with the corruption energy.
But they only appeared after the corruption energy was frozen.
They had even made noise when they appeared, which let us know that they were there.
"Regardless of what this is, don't let your guards down. This isn't over yet." The Merman King said in a serious voice as he looked at the corruption energy frozen in the ice.
The royal guards all nodded in agreement and raised their guard, while waiting for the corruption energy to be purified by the ice.
But there was nothing else that appeared in the end.
